John Kerry did not even consider my first pick for VP, but thats OK:
Unfortunately, I don't have the national name recognition required, but I am from a battleground state.
Sam Nunn should still have a place in his administration. Indeed, he should even be considered by Bush for CIA Director. He is a valuable national asset and should be used no matter who wins.
BUT, I did vote for Edwards in the Ohio priamry, even though by then Kerry was all but a forgone conclusion. I did so because I liked the guy and wanted him to remain vital and viable on the national stage. I guess when it gets down to it, I already voted for Edwards for VP. Certainly his tireless campaigning on Kerry's behalf and his showing in the primaries not only made Edwards the logical choice, but he also earned the spot.
The incredibly stark contrast between the grumbling, plodding, old and decrepit Dick Cheney, who has the gall to pronounce in Darth Vader-like terms that Kerry is too pessimistic, and the always upbeat, ever optimistic and never caustic or negative, fresh John Edwards will be interesting.
Edwards already has (ever so politely) turned the pessimism thing on it's head. While POTUS keeps screaming that everything is rosy, Edwards says "we can do better." Not experienced enough? Four words: Better than Dan Quayle.
